Be sure to head on out to the Avenue of Flags between 11am and 4pm Saturday, July 6, 2013 for the Annual Arts on the Avenue event.

Stroll through the vendors and shop for your favorite arts and crafts, bring the kids for the kid zone complete with bounce houses, sit back and enjoy live music, check out the motorcycle show, or enjoy a cold beer from our local breweries.  BBQ lunch and food booths available too, so make a day of it and bring the whole family.  It's going to be fun.

At the Same time, Chapman's Auto Detail will be hosting an open house, so make your way over there to take a look at the services they offer and enjoy the car show that will be on display as well.

The Independence Day kids parade and celebration at Centennial Park almost didn't happen.

 

The city faced financial struggles to get the show up and running but the community was able to come together in the nick of time.

Body Found in Truck Off Hwy 154

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - Officials from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office have located an overturned vehicle with a body inside down a cliff below Highway 154 on the San Marcos Pass. Authorities say the vehicle is registered to a missing person case from March of 2012.

Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit Copter Two was flying over the area of Highway 154 and Painted Cave Road around 12:30p.m. Thursday, when a deputy observed a vehicle located 300 feet down a cliff, in an area of thick brush. 

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies, the white Chevy pick-up is registered to the person in a missing person case from March of 2012.  It has not been determined yet when the accident occurred.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Third Suspect Arrested In Lompoc Shooting

LOMPOC, Calif. -- Lompoc Police have arrested a third suspect in the December shooting of a 15-year old male juvenile. On Tuesday, 20-year old Joseph Perez of Lompoc, who was already in Santa Barbara County Jail on other charges, was charged in connection to the shooting.

Perez is now facing charges of aggravated mayhem, felony possession of a firearm, gang enhancement and personal use of a firearm. Previously arrested in the case were 20-year old Alejandro Bermudez and 22-year old Jaime Cervantes, both of Lompoc. Bermudez and Cervantes were both arrested in April for their connection to the investigation.

LOMPOC, Calif.- Days after a Lompoc business closes its doors, the building catches on fire and officials are calling it suspicious.

What took firefighters minutes to knock out, could take officials weeks to investigate.

"The fire originated in the laundry room itself," said Battalion Chief Stan Hart, Lompoc Fire Department.

Firefighters were rushed to the 1000 block of East Ocean Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning after they got a call smoke was coming from inside the vacant building.
